Day 2

Day 2

I am pleased to report that Rob’s chest tubes were removed this morning. Better news is that he didn’t experience any discomfort when they did it – a totally different experience than 25 years ago.

And Rob wasn’t just stuck with me today. We were joined by his Mom, his sister, Terry, and our daughter, Keely. We all agree that he seemed to improve as the day wore on. He started out a bit tired and was running a bit of a temp. But as the day went on, walking a few laps, doing his breathing exercises regularly (spirometer) and, of course, napping liberally seemed to really help him. When he was awake, he had more energy and was more alert. Apparently the breathing exercises will help with the temp too.

The tenderest reunion today was the one between Rob and his mobile phone. (Although I do stand by my decision to hold off one more day. He was doing anesthesia’s equivalent of drunk-dialing Keely last night with the hospital phone.) I am sure he will catch up on his communication soon.

He is in room 6029. I heard rumors of him getting out of the hospital Monday or Tuesday, but I guess we’ll have to see.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support!
